We want your family to have a great time together while you’re in the club. But, like many activities – such as going to a movie or driving a car – many of our departments and programs have age-specific policies designed to protect children.
Here are some of the age-specific policies and programs in place at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center:
Members 14-17
Without parent or adult supervision, members 14-17 years of age may use the following areas with facility guidelines:
- Group Fitness Classes
- Gymnasium
- Indoor and Outdoor Pools
- Indoor and Outdoor Tennis Courts
- Racquetball Courts
- Strength and Conditioning Area
- Track
Guest of Members 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older while in the facility.
Members 12-13
Unless they are registered in KidFit or participating in an age-appropriate program, the children must be accompanied by an adult or parent while using these areas within the facility:
- Group Fitness Classes

- Indoor and Outdoor Pools

- Strength and Conditioning Area

Members 11 and younger

Gymnasium

Racquetball Courts
Women’s and Men’s locker rooms
Regarding children of the opposite sex, only those three years of age and younger are allowed in these areas. There is a family changing room located in the indoor pool area. Members under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to use the whirlpool, steam room and sauna areas.
Kid City and KidFit
Kid City and KidFit allow parents time to workout while their children participate in age appropriate fitness and learning activities. Using the Safe and Sound security system, KidFit and Kid City staff members attach an armband to each child and parent at every visit. A child will only be released to parents or guardians with a matching armband.
- Kid City is open to children ages 12 weeks – 6 years
- KidFit is open to children ages 6 – 13 years
- There is a two hour time limit per visit with a minimum of a three hour span between visits to both Kid City and KidFit.
- Kid City and KidFit Snow Day – If Knox County has called a snow day, and the Fitness Center is opening late, Kid City and KidFit may have limited operating hours. Please call the Fitness Center for snow day operating hours.
