Reopening Overview
Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center is currently operating under phases that are assisted by the state and local governments. Our main focus is still the health and safety of our members and staff. You can expect a clean, safe and welcoming environment. In order to comply with the state government, we will operate under a revised schedule and with several new guidelines in place as outlined below:
Phase Guidelines
- Face coverings are now optional when entering, leaving, and moving about any common area.
- Members must wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the facility.
- Staff and members are recommended to observe social distancing when moving around the facility and participating in designated classes.
- Staff will continue sanitizing equipment after each use on the fitness floor and group fitness studios. We are asking members to assist us after each group class and on the fitness floor.
- Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the building for your convenience.
- Online registration is required to attend group fitness classes and class size will be reduced in order to allow for social distancing. Online registration is required to attend our new in-house virtual classes as well.
- All showers will be open.
- Steam room, dry sauna, and whirlpools are now open.
- Tennis can allow singles and doubles play.
- Indoor and Outdoor Pool will be open, but 6 ft. of social distancing should be maintained.
- Youth Development will be open. While social distancing of children is difficult our staff will ensure proper steps.
- All members must bring their membership card in order to complete self-check-in at the front desk
- Tennis, The Day Spa, GRIT, RENEW, and Group Fitness will all remain open. Appointment/registration is required for all.

Group Fitness Pre-Registration
To help maintain safe social distancing space we are limiting the number of participants in our group fitness classes. All classes will require a pre-registration via the FSHFC mobile app or the FSHFC website member login portal. Register on the app or online for class as early as 24 hours in advance. In order to sign-up for classes please follow the steps below.
FSHFC Mobile App Sign-Up Directions
- Download our app from Apple iOS, and for Android devices.
- Login to the FSHFC app.
- Username: Email you have on file with FSHFC.
- Password: Has to be created by our Membership Team unless you previously had one created. Email jforman@covhlth.com to create an email.
- Select “Group Fitness” from the sidebar.
- Select what class you would like to pre-register for and select “Book Now”. If it says “Add To Calendar” you’re most likely not logged in to the app. If you’re logged in and it still says “Add To Calendar” contact our Membership Team at 865-531-5049.
Website Member Portal Sign-Up Directions
- Go to the main Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center website.
- Select Member Portal located at the top of the website via a phone. If you’re using a computer the Member Portal tab will be on the left side of the cover photo.
- Sign in at the top of the page.
- Login to the Member Portal.
- Username: Email you have on file with FSHFC.
- Password: Has to be created by our Membership Team unless you previously had one created. Email jforman@covhlth.com to create an email.
- Select “Group Fitness” from the top toolbar.
- Select the class you want to take and select “book now”.

Yes, we will limit the number of participants to maintain 6 ft. of safe social distancing space.
Screening questions will be provided by the State of Tennessee office of the Governor and will be posted at the entrance of the facility. You can also visit and print them above.
Starting on June 1st
- Regular 2 hour time limit for childcare.
- Kids will wash their hands upon entering and an hour into our care.
- Kids 3-12 years of age are recommended to wear a face covering, but it is not required.
- Kids will need to be sanitized and checked in at the front desk before going to Kid City or KidFit.
- Parents need to bring a membership card for all kids to ensure they can self-scan at the front desk.
Youth Development Hours
Monday-Friday: 7:50 am – 7:00 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am -4:00 pm
Sunday: 12:50 pm – 4:00 pm
The Day Spa will remain open. You must make an appointment though. The Pro Shop will open with limited hours.
Whirlpool, sauna, and steam room.
Face coverings are required when entering, leaving and moving about any common area. The Group Fitness studios and Fitness Floor have been marked to allow members to maintain at least 6’ of distance between members. Once you are in position in the classroom or on a piece of equipment, the face covering may be lowered or removed. When you have finished the class or specific exercise, the face covering must be placed back over the nose and mouth.
The staff at FSHFC will be cleaning and disinfecting throughout the day plus staying after hours to clean the facility. While the staff will be cleaning equipment and machines after each use, we ask that members help when appropriate.
Guest will be allowed in the facility, but may not pre-register for group fitness classes. However, if the class has an open spot the guest may attend. Guest wanting to play tennis must pay a guest fee like other guests of the facility; unless they are playing a USTA match. *Guest must present a photo I.D. and fill out the registration form before each visit.
Yes, single and doubles is allowed. Safe social distancing should be maintained when not playing or while visiting any other part of the facility. Please bring your own equipment.
Yes, the State of Tennessee Office of the Governor requires all members and staff to sanitize or wash their hand upon entering a facility. In addition, members and staff will need to sanitize their hands frequently once they’re in the facility.
All members will be required to bring their membership card and self-scan at the front desk. If you need a new card please alert the front desk at 865-531-5000. As you approach the check-in station please follow our traffic pattern and continue to your destination through the locker room after your check-in.

While we were closed due to COVID-19, we have spent time thoroughly cleaning the entire facility and implementing additional sanitation policies. We will continue to maintain a clean and safe environment for all members and employees. However, suspensions/freezes must be submitted in writing to the Business Office or Membership. Contact the Business Office or Membership for the correct form. All changes are date/time sensitive and must be received by the 28th day of the month.

- If you wish to cancel your membership, you must submit our cancellation form on or before the 1st day of the month in which you wish to cancel your membership and your membership will then cancel on the last day of that month.
Yes, but you must follow the same guidelines as members. This includes practicing safe social distancing while inside the facility.
